We have a new bird list with all the known birds that have been seen on site at Kuleni Game Park. The list has been updated with some new species and all of the new names. We have 220 species on our small game reserve alone! Whether you are new to birding or are searching for some lifers, Umkhumbi Lodge is really a great place to stay if you want to add to your list or get some great photographs.
The bird watching is absolutely amazing at the moment with several species nesting around the lodge including the Collard Sunbird, Grey Sunbird, Purple-banded Sunbird, Dark-backed (Forest) Weaver, Narina Trogon and African Paradise Flycatcher. Umkhumbi Lodge is in a forested part of Kuleni Game Park. The walking trails cover grassland and more open habitats. The Narina Trogon is being seen regularly round the chalets. We have regular sighting of Pink-throated Twinspots and Gorgeous Bushshrikes.
Umkhumbi Lodge offers comfortable accommodation in air-conditioned family chalets. Each chalet sleeps 4 people (or 5 with an extra bed). We are currently running a self-catering special if you book directly: R1200 per chalet per night during the week, R1500 on Fridays and Saturdays. We are taking bookings for December with a long-stay discount if you stay for 4 nights or more.
